Condition of funding
The requirement that students without a qualifying grade in English or maths continue to study those subjects.

Students who have not achieved a qualifying grade in English or maths must continue studying the subject as part of their programme. Failure to meet the condition can reduce the funding for that student.
The qualifying grades, the acceptable qualifications and the exemptions are set out in the funding rules for the year and change from time to time.

Funding dropped this month and nobody can explain why
The funding report for this period shows less than expected, or less than last period. Because every return restates the whole year, a change made this month can move earnings reported in earlier months, so the drop may have nothing to do with this month's delivery.
