Ask, and see where the answer came from
Answers are built from reviewed Academy content and approved official sources, with the sources shown. When the evidence is not there, you get an honest refusal and a route to the document, not a confident guess.
An explanation and learning aid, not a funding decision. Ask FEFunding explains funding rules and the ILR using reviewed Academy content and official sources. It is not an official funding determination service and is not provided by DfE or DWP. Check anything you act on against the official document it cites, and take decisions about individual learners or claims through your college's own processes. It can only answer when the Academy holds reviewed content, and it can occasionally be unavailable when its daily allowance has been used.

How this is kept honest
What it does
- Retrieves from reviewed Academy content and approved sources before generating anything.
- Shows the passages the answer was built from, and the official documents behind them.
- States the funding year, and refuses to blend one year's rules into another.
- Adapts the wording to your role and the depth you choose, never the underlying rule.
What it refuses
- Funding rates, thresholds and band figures: those are set annually and belong in the official document.
- A funding year the Academy holds no reviewed content for.
- A validation rule or report identifier whose official catalogue has not been imported.
- A software menu path we have not verified for a stated version.
- Anything containing learner personal information, and any request to inspect a learner record.
Your question may be sent to an external AI model provider to produce an answer. We do not keep a record of it, and it is not used to identify you. Read more about how the assistant is built and grounded and what we do with what you type.

The deterministic parts of the Academy are faster, cost nothing and never guess. If you know roughly what you are looking for, they are the better route.
