Privacy notice
What personal data this website collects, why, and who it is shared with.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Who we are
The FEFunding website at fefunding.co.uk is operated by LIMELAI LIMITED (company number 16486216, registered office 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE). For anything in this notice, contact hello@fefunding.co.uk.
This notice covers the website. ILR Lens, our free Windows application, processes ILR files on your own computer and does not send learner data to us; its own documentation describes how it handles data.
You do not need an account
Nothing on this site needs you to register or sign in. Please do not enter learner personal data, such as names, unique learner numbers, dates of birth or addresses, into any form, calculator or question box on this site. None of them needs it.
What we collect and why
Every visit
Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you request when you visit, and keeps request logs. To limit misuse of features that cost us money to run, we also count requests per visitor using a code derived from your IP address by a one-way hash; we do not store the IP address itself for this.
Calculators and tools on this site
The funding calculator, the allocation statement band calculator and the devolution postcode checker send what you enter (figures, course codes, postcodes or allocation statement text) to our server to work out the result. We use it to produce the result; these tools do not save what you enter.
Questions you ask
When you type a question into the Academy's Ask feature or FundingGPT, the question is sent to an AI language model provider to produce the answer. The site currently uses OpenAI's GPT-4.1 model; the provider is set in our server configuration. If no provider is configured, or a usage limit is reached, the answer is produced from our own content without sending the question to a provider. We keep a record of which sources an answer used, with a one-way hash of the question to group repeated questions, but not the text of the question or the answer.
The Academy's Ask feature checks each question for things that look like learner personal data and refuses a question that appears to contain it. The Academy also has its own page on how it handles your data.
Academy searches
When a search in the Academy finds nothing, we store the search text, lower-cased and tidied, so we can see what the Academy is missing. It is not linked to you.
Feedback
The Academy feedback form collects your comment, the page it is about and, only if you choose to give it, a contact address. We use these to correct and improve the content, and the contact address only to reply to you. Comments that look like they contain learner personal data are refused rather than stored.
Listening to answers and the voice assistant
On the FundingGPT page, choosing to hear an answer in the premium voice sends the answer text to ElevenLabs to turn it into speech. Nothing is sent to ElevenLabs unless you choose to listen. The FundingGPT voice assistant, which would send your microphone audio to ElevenLabs, is switched off.
Videos
Some Academy pages show YouTube videos. The video player is loaded from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) only when you choose to play a video. YouTube's own privacy policy then applies.
Email updates
Our email updates are paused: we are not taking new sign-ups or sending updates at the moment. If you signed up earlier, we still hold your email address and the role you chose, so that we can send the updates if they resume. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe, and emails are sent through Resend.
Downloading ILR Lens
The ILR Lens download files are served from GitHub, which receives your request when you download them. We see download totals from GitHub, not who downloaded.
Information stored in your browser
The site does not set advertising or analytics cookies. It stores some settings in your browser's local storage so they are remembered next time, such as your light or dark theme, reading settings, Academy progress and recently viewed Academy pages. These stay on your device and are not sent to us. You can clear them in your browser settings.
Who we share data with
We use these service providers to run the site:
- Vercel, which hosts the website and keeps request logs.
- Supabase, which provides our database.
- The AI language model provider configured for the site, currently for OpenAI's GPT-4.1 model, for questions.
- ElevenLabs, for speech, only when you choose to listen to an answer.
- Resend, for sending email updates to existing subscribers (currently paused).
- GitHub, which serves the ILR Lens download files.
- YouTube, only when you play a video.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
The site does not currently delete stored records automatically. Records in our database, which are email update subscriptions, Academy feedback, unmatched Academy searches and the record of which sources an answer used, are kept until we delete them. Unsubscribing stops the emails and marks your subscription as unsubscribed; it does not delete the record, so ask us if you want it deleted. Request logs are kept by our hosting provider, Vercel, for the period its service sets. You can ask us at any time to delete what we hold about you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop or restrict using it. To make a request, email hello@fefunding.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, although we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when what the site collects changes, and change the date at the top. See also the terms of use.
