Reference date

A date on which a count or a position is taken, used in allocation and funding calculations.

In full

Some calculations are taken as at a particular date rather than across a period, for example a count of students in learning on a specified day.

Where a reference date applies, the position on that exact date is what counts, so records need to be right by then rather than merely right eventually.
