Different authorities have different rules, rates and eligibility conditions. Claiming from the wrong funder is not a presentational error: the claim may be invalid under the rules that actually apply, and the correction can remove the funding entirely.

How to investigate

Separate the two questions: is the postcode right, and does the source of funding follow from it.
Use the enrolment evidence for the postcode. Changing it without evidence replaces one problem with another.
Check whether the problem is systematic: a whole cohort with the same mismatch means the derivation or the default is wrong.
Where a whole area is affected, check whether a boundary changed for the funding year.

How to fix it

Correct the home postcode, or the source of funding, or both, in the student record system.
Confirm that the aim is eligible under the rules of the authority it should be claimed from, because eligibility conditions differ.
Regenerate and expect the earnings for the aim to move between funders.
Where the aim is not eligible under the correct authority's rules, escalate: this is a funding issue, not a data issue.
