Free funding tools, no login needed
Quick, public tools for everyday funding questions. None of them asks for learner personal data. Each one says what it covers and what it does not, so check the official funding rules before making funding decisions.
ILR Lens for Windows
A free Windows application for comparing ILR returns, investigating learner-number movements and reviewing assurance findings. Your ILR is processed on your own computer and is not uploaded anywhere. No account required.
Limits: Windows only. Findings are prompts to investigate, not funding decisions.
English and maths condition of funding calculator
A free Excel workbook and SQL Server toolkit that estimate your 16 to 19 English and maths condition of funding position, and the deduction it could bring to a future allocation, from two DfE funding reports. Editions for 2025 to 2026 and 2026 to 2027. Runs on your own computer or database; nothing is uploaded.
Limits: An estimate, not DfE's calculation. It does not check teaching hours, delivery or evidence, and it cannot prove which provider, year or return the reports came from.
Funding calculator
Estimate one student's 16 to 19 funding from the official 2026 to 2027 band rates, or one Adult Skills Fund aim's value from its LARS rate, with an itemised breakdown.
Limits: An estimate, not an allocation. Programme cost weighting, disadvantage and area cost are explained but not added, and the ASF uplifts are not applied. The apprenticeship forecast is temporarily unavailable.
Allocation statement band calculator
Upload your 16 to 19 revenue funding allocation statement (PDF) to see the funding per student in each band, using your own retention factor, programme cost weighting and area cost allowance, with a CSV export. The PDF is read in your browser and its text is used only to calculate.
Limits: Indicative. DfE calculates on un-rounded values, so figures may differ slightly from your statement.
Allocation vs delivery tracker
Enter your allocation and delivery so far for 16 to 19, the Adult Skills Fund and apprenticeships to see which streams are off course and what to check.
Limits: Uses indicative thresholds you can change; it does not calculate clawback or what will be paid.
ASF Devolution Intelligence Centre
Check whether a postcode or town is in a devolved area for the Adult Skills Fund, explore devolved and announced areas by academic year, and export a devolved area's postcodes to CSV.
Limits: A postcode district is only given one funding body when every live postcode in it has the same one, using the ONS postcode directory. Where a district crosses a boundary, enter the learner's full postcode. Always confirm against the official devolution postcode files.
ILR return dates calendar
Download the ILR return deadlines (R01 to R14) as an iCal file, with funding claim dates and in-year allocation increase guidance for the Adult Skills Fund and Free Courses for Jobs.
Limits: Confirm exact deadlines against the official DfE data collection timetable. Claim dates for a year without published guidance are projected and labelled.
Funding rates
The national 16 to 19 and T Level funding rates by band, with the official funding rules and guidance for each stream.
Limits: National rates only; your own allocation also depends on your institution's factors.
Key dates
ILR returns and the funding, quality and compliance milestones for the year in one timeline.
Limits: Dates without a cited official source are marked provisional.
FundingGPT assistant
Ask funding questions in plain English and get answers drawn from the official guidance, with citations.
Limits: An explanation aid, not a decision about your learners or college. Check the cited official source before acting on an answer. Do not enter learner personal data.
