Eligibility and the bursary fund

Loan eligibility depends on age, level and residency. There is no credit check or income test for the loan itself. A separate Advanced Learner Loans Bursary Fund supports costs such as childcare, travel and learning materials.

Recording loans in the ILR

The Advanced Learner Loan indicator (ADL) and associated bursary (ALB) codes identify loan-funded aims so they are excluded from grant funding and reported correctly.
